This is the music I grew up with, and some of the first music I ever heard. It is hard to say how formative that could have been in my youth, yet I feel the need to pay tribute to it. There is a lot of talk around 'tradition' in the study of music, but whose tradition is that referring to? In an effort to battle the idea of a singular history that places emphasis on some people and makes an erasure of others, I have taken it my own hands to decide for myself what is considered important. The yellow sponge man is my inspiration.
